20th Annual Summer Symposium - 2008

Summer SymposiumThe Symposium will kick-off on Wednesday afternoon, June 25th. Joseph O. Bull, Senior Philanthropy Officer for Global Initiatives, The Nature Conservancy will present Integrating Gift Planning in a Campaign. This session will review the traditional role of planned giving in campaigns, discuss emerging trends in campaigning, examine NCPG's Campaign Guidelines and show how traditional gift planning vehicles can produce urgently-needed current dollars in a campaign period.

A reception following this program provides a two-hour networking opportunity for development officers and estate planning professionals with our nationally prominent Symposium speakers.

Tight on time or $ budget? Good News! Wednesday's programs and the all important networking reception are included in the registration for Symposium. Unable to make it to Thursday's Symposium but want to attend on Wednesday? It is priced at just $25. So plan to attend the Wednesday event even if you can't attend Thursday's Symposium.

Full Symposium registration prices: $175 for CPGR members; $205 for non-members before May 16th. Fees increase $30 for registrations received after May 16th. Register online Scholarships are available.  

Cancellation Policy: A $20 fee will be charged for all cancellations received by June 13, 2008. After June 13, there will be no refunds.

The Symposium continues on Thursday, June 26th at which our speakers will bring their extensive planned gift knowledge, and most importantly, demonstrate how to apply planned giving principles to your program.

Our Symposium speakers include:

Pamela J. Davidson, J.D. President of Davidson Gift Design, will start the day with I Don't Know Anything About You...How to Introduce Gift Planning into a Conversation With a Real Person. This presentation will offer many personal planning scenarios and will cover issues like retirement planning, supporting family members and asset diversification - with relevant gift options that meet or even exceed each personal planning goal.

The Fundamental Track will be covered by local favorites David C. Hall of the American Humane Association and Betsy Mangone from The Denver Foundation.  David will start the day with YOU CAN DO IT!  Simple, Successful Planned Giving for People Afraid of the Subject. Betsy will cover the last two sessions of the day with The Fundamentals of a Successful Planned Giving Program and then Beyond the Basics.

Kicking off the Intermediate Track will be Pamela J. Davidson, J.D., back to present Ten Steps Your Charity Can Take This Very Year for Planned Giving Success.  The second session will include Scott Lumpkin, University of Denver and Marilyn Montgomery, The Nature Conservatory to co-present The Intersection of Principal and Planned Gifts: Raise Larger Gifts, Think Out of the Box, and Build Your Career.  Bryan Clontz, Charitable Solutions, LLC will finish this track with an interactive session that will cover the recent mortality studies and the planned giving implications for donors and charities called The Methuselah Effect:  Longevity's Impact on Planned Giving.

The Advanced/Technical Track will include heavy hitters Jere Doyle, The Bank of New York Mellon, Craig Wruck from the Hazelden Foundation and Christopher R. Hoyt of the University of Missouri (Kansas City) School of Law.  If you're looking for a technical program you don't want to miss these three presenters!
