Program Description
So you have the appointment. Do you know how to start the conversation when you get there?
Our presenters will give an overview of a communication and negotiation process that seeks to secure gifts that are a “win-win” for both donors and your organization. They will discuss some of the key conversation points to cover during your visits with planned and major gift prospects.
Jim Gumpert, a New York native, holds a B.S. from Cornell University in psychology and a Masters from the University of Colorado in Public Administration. In 1974, Jim moved to Denver, Colorado. Among other positions, his professional career included 28 years of fundraising experience serving public television, the MS Society of Colorado, the Arthritis Foundation, and the American Red Cross. In February 2005, after ten year of experience as a planned giving professional, both at the local and national level, Jim joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of America as their Director of Planned Giving for the Southwest Region. In August 2006, Jim was promoted to Senior Director of Planned Giving, and now oversees five field staff covering the entire country.
For the past six years, Jim has been a board member of the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable, serving as the President in 2004. During that time, Jim has spoken on the subject of Planned Giving to numerous planned giving councils around the country and is a frequent speaker at the CPGR brown bag luncheons. In 2006, Jim was nominated and elected to serve a three-year term as a board member of the National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG) and serves on the conference committee for this year’s conference which will be in Denver, CO in October. Jim is a grandfather, an avid baseball fan and a fisherman, and escapes whenever he can to his cabin in Grand Lake, Colorado.
