CPGR-Forum List Service

In March of 2002 the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable established an e-mail discussion and news broadcast list called CPGR-FORUM. This list is intended for the discussion of planned giving issues by gift planners, particularly those who live and work in Colorado, as well as for the allied professionals, such as lawyers, accountants, trust officers, wealth counselors, financial planners, insurance agents, and administrators of family offices. It is owned and managed by the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable [www.cpgr.org]. It is currently being sponsored by the Trust Department of the Bank of Cherry Creek [www.bocc.com].

This List is currently unmoderated, in that anybody is free to subscribe to and post messages on it at any time. However, the conversations on this List are monitored from time to time by a group of list Moderators who are there to enforce the "Rules of the Road."

If you ever have any general questions about the CPGR-FORUM List, you can always write to the list Moderators at the generic e-mail address:
CPGR-FORUM-request@home.ease.lsoft.com

How to Subscribe to the List

There are two ways to first subscribe to this list and then reconfigure your individual settings as desired, as well as to post messages to and receive messages from the list:

(1) via the Web, and
(2) by e-mail

The Web route is the easiest to use for subscribing, unsubscribing, altering your individual configuration settings, and viewing and searching the message archive. E-mail is the easiest way to post and receive list messages.

For those who are interested, here are some more detailed instructions.

How to Subscribe Via the Web

In order to subscribe to the list via the Web, either go to the following URL: http://home.ease.lsoft.com/scripts/wa.exe?SUBED1=cpgr-forum&A=1 where you need to enter your preferred e-mail address and name, then chose your desired subscriber settings, and then click on the "Join CPGR-FORUM" button bar.

Alternatively, you can go to the following Archive URL: http://home.ease.lsoft.com/archives/cpgr-forum.html and then click on the "Join or Leave the List (or change settings)" link that is located at the top of the Archive page. This will take you to the above subscriber page.

Regardless of which method you use, in response you will receive a confirm request message via e-mail. You need to respond to this message as you are instructed to in it so we can verify you are indeed the intended subscriber. As soon as you do that, you will receive a copy of the Welcome Message e-mail for this list and a set of instructions from L-Soft (the list host Company). You should be sure you print out and save these two messages for later use.

If you are already subscribed to the list and simply want to change your individual subscription settings via the Web (such as to change from the individual message mode to either the DIGEST or INDEX single daily message mode), go to the following URL: http://home.ease.lsoft.com/scripts/wa.exe?SUBED1=cpgr-forum

How to View and Search the Message Archive Via the Web

In order to view and search the message archive, go to the following URL: http://home.ease.lsoft.com/archives/cpgr-forum.html

Once there, you can:

  1. Search the Archive for a specific message or topic by a variety if easy-to-use search criteria.
  2. Post a message directly to the list.
  3. Join or leave the list or change your individual subscriber settings, such as to NOMAIL if you are going on vacation.
  4. Open, sort through and read all the messages that were posted during any given month starting in March of 2002.

How to Subscribe, Manage Your Subscription and Post Messages to the List Via Email

In order to initially SUBSCRIBE or RESUBSCRIBE to the list via e-mail, address a message to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM and, in the text of your message (not the subject line), write: SUBSCRIBE CPGR-FORUM (your real name)

In response, you will receive a confirm request message via e-mail. You need to respond to this message as you are instructed to in it so we can verify you are indeed the intended subscriber. As soon as you do that, you will receive a copy of the Welcome Message e-mail for this list and a set of basic list instructions from L-Soft (the list host Company). You should be sure you print out and save these two messages for later use.

In order to UNSUBSCRIBE from the list once you have joined it, you should address a message to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.L-SOFT.COM and, in the text of your message (not the subject line), write: SIGNOFF CPGR-FORUM

In order to POST A MESSAGE to the list, simply address it to CPGR-FORUM@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM, which is the List's e-mail message posting address (NOT to the List's e-mail command address, which is LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM).

If you are ever going to be ABSENT for an extended period of time, consider either
(1) simply unsubscribing from the List while you are gone, or
(2) changing to the DIGEST or INDEX versions of this List while you are gone, or
(3) setting your e-mail subscription to NOMAIL while you are gone so no messages will be sent to you until you get back and switch back to MAIL. Whatever you do, do NOT set up an "I'm out of the office" autoresponse, as doing so could result in your being summarily unsubscribed from this List while you are gone and you may not be notified of the same.

To set NOMAIL, address a message to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM and, in the text of your message (not the subject line), write: SET CPGR-FORUM NOMAIL

When you return and are ready to restart the flow of list e-mail, address a message to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM and, in the text of your message (not the subject line), write: SET CPGR-FORUM MAIL

If you want to have your messages sent to you in daily bundles called a DIGEST in order to reduce the number of inbound e-mails that are sent to your mail box, send a message to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM and, in the text of your message (not the subject line), write: SET CPGR-FORUM DIGEST

To go back to receiving your e-mail item by item, send a message to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM and, in the text of your message (not the subject line), write: SET CPGR-FORUM NODIGEST

The Digest option is a handy option for people who are subscribed to a numbers of lists. Each Digest starts off with a Table of Contents listing of the Subject Line from each message that is in that Digest. These digests are sent out each evening soon after midnight EDT.

If instead you want to receive just a simple list of all the topics or Subject Lines of the e-mail messages that are sent to the List each day, along with information about who sent the message and how long it is, so you can retrieve only those messages you care to read using either the INDEX command or the List's searchable Web-based archive. To set the INDEX command, send a message to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM and, in the text of your message (not the subject line), write:SET CPGR-FORUM INDEX

To go back to receiving your e-mail item by item, send a message to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM and, in the text of your message (not the subject line), write: SET CPGR-FORUM NOINDEX

To switch from INDEX to DIGEST, or visa-versa, simply send the appropriate SET command for the mode you want to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM

For more information about this and other L-Soft discussion lists, send a message to LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM and, in the text of your message (not the subject line), write: "HELP" or "INFO" (without the quotes). HELP will give you a short help message containing the most commonly used commands, and INFO will give you a list of the L-Soft information files you can obtain.

In addition, a comprehensive 38-Page "General User's Guide" is available on-line from the L-Soft Web site at URL: http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/1.8d/user/user.html

The Guide can be viewed on-line as a Web document or downloaded as an HTML-coded document, or printed out using FILE/PRINT.

Discussion List Netiquette

Discussion traffic on this list is governed by the rules of list e-mail Netiquette. Accordingly, (a) all postings should be signed in such a way that the sender can be properly identified and sent a private reply if desired, (b) all replies should delete as much of the text of the message that is being responded to as is not necessary for an understanding of the reply, and (c) the posting of cryptic and bandwidth wasting "me to" and "I agree" and "please unsubscribe me" messages to the entire List are not welcome.

In addition, this List has been configured to no longer allow the posting of messages with attachments, including those pesky Vcard and attmail signature files and all viruses files, plus any HTML formatted messages. If you have an attachment that you think would be of interest to the subscribers to this List, you should send it to the list administration address at the following URL: CPGR-FORUM-request@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM for the Moderators to review and post on the CPGR Web site if doing so is deemed by them to be appropriate in their sole and absolute discretion.
