Program Description
Philanthropy in a recession challenges a planner to determine how a client/prospect can take advantage of unique situations resulting both from the erosion of wealth and also from an increased concern of being able to maintain lifestyle. Even as the recession eases, it will be quite a while before individuals regain confidence in investment markets and are willing to take risks with their assets and their income. The challenge is to creatively use appreciated assets that one would not want to sell in a down market, to accept losses on other assets and convert them into strategies to obtain productive income, to turn a seasonally-used vacation home into a virtual "time share", to allocate the equity in a personal residence to generate a life estate/annuity combination, or to take advantage of lower values on investment real estate to shift properties to the next generation at low tax cost.
Our speaker, Neal Myerberg, will illustrate specific examples of innovative ways to help your client/prospect "make the gift" in these tough financial times.
