Penelope Burk, Cygnus Applied Research
Cygnus' national research has found that fundraising cannot just wait out the recession then return to business as usual because donors have moved to a new way of giving. But inspiring their ongoing loyalty and earning generous contributions is still possible if not-for‐profits give donors what they really need. While this means being open to thinking about fundraising differently and adjusting some outdated and ineffective practices to be donor‐centered, those who adapt their operations to this new dynamic will reap the rewards ‐ whether the economy is up or down.
