Larry Stelter

 Larry Stelter is president and CEO of The Stelter Company, a leading source for gift planning marketing for the nonprofit community. With more than 38 years of experience as a marketing specialist for the gift planning industry, he is a recognized speaker, authority and author on the subject of gift planning. Larry is in demand as a lecturer at national and regional industry meetings on gift planning marketing, Internet marketing, relationship building skills, and cutting-edge donor and fundraising research. He is the creator of the well-known and well-attended Relationship Building Workshop®, which teaches development officers how to raise more gifts by establishing relationships with potential donors. Larry is the author of How to Raise Planned Gifts by Mail and has published gift planning articles in Advancing Philanthropy, Planned Giving Today and Contributions magazines.

Larry’s expertise paired with his relentless entrepreneurial drive provides the vision for the future of his company. Founded in 1962, The Stelter Company and its staff of over 75 individuals serve 2,000 print clients and 1,100 Web clients nationally. Larry balances his time between meeting face-to-face with customers in the field and working with internal teams to develop innovative ways for charitable organizations to achieve their fundraising goals. The Stelter home office is located in Des Moines, Iowa, with regional offices in Fort Worth, Texas; Chicago, Ill., Orlando, Fla.; Washington, D.C.; Hartford, Conn.; and Denver, Colo.

Larry was awarded election to the 2010 Board of Directors for Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and will serve three years. He’s also a member of the Mid-Iowa Planned Giving Council and the Minnesota Planned Giving Council. Larry is a graduate of the University of Iowa. He is married to business partner Peggy Fisher, and is the proud father of three sons (two third-generation Stelters who work as marketing consultants for the east and west coast territories).
