"I thought the Symposium overall was just
great. It is indeed a very worthwhile event."
"I learned a lot and will definitely recommend
it to others."
As these comments from evaluations confirm,
the Symposium lived up to its well-deserved
reputation as one of the most stimulating
and worthwhile educational and networking
opportunities for the Colorado gift planning
community. Whether a fundraiser, volunteer
or professional advisor; whether new to gift
planning or a veteran, the Symposium provided
a little something to everyone.
Each year, diverse and well-respected speakers
contribute to make it among the best and this
year was no different. In addition to the
nationally respected speakers from across
the country who presented, we were grateful
to have three hometown favorites as well -
Betsy Mangone, Scott Lumpkin and Michael Donegan.
We are so fortunate to have these superstars
right here!
Keynote speaker Wally Munro, current President
of the National Council on Planned Giving,
opened the day with a thoughtful presentation
about marketing planned gifts by bringing
it back around to building relationships.
Wally set the standard for the rest of the
speakers who all did their part to reach it
This year's Symposium also included a first-time
kick-off event held the day before with over
100 people in attendance. Local planned giving
consultant Janet Doolin started the session
by sharing the findings from her research
study about what it takes to build a proactive
gift planning program. Scott Lumpkin then
moderated a panel with four representatives
from local organizations. This group shared
candid insights into both the struggles and
successes they have experienced in their gift
planning programs. Because of the overwhelming
positive response to this program, it may
now become an annual addition to the Summer
Symposium.
Heartfelt thanks goes to our generous sponsors
who allow us to offer the Symposium at an
affordable price. Special acknowledgement
goes to Wells Fargo, who returned as
the title sponsor for the third time. We applaud
our other returning sponsors: The Denver
Foundation, American National Bank, Mellon
Charitable Gift Services, Gay & Lesbian Fund
for Colorado, LMC Community Foundation, &
Crescendo Interactive, Inc. And, a sincere
expression of gratitude to our first time
sponsors: The Bank of New York, Doolin
Consulting LLC & Financial Freedom Senior
Funding Corporation.
We are always looking to improve the Summer
Symposium and have volunteer opportunities
for those who would like to be involved with
the planning. Please email Tina Drum at cpgr@msn.com
to find out how you can be involved.
